Part Time Saturday & Sunday: Weekends Only (2) 10hr shifts 6am-4:30pm This position is work from home eligible after 4-6 months of meeting productivity goals and adhering to DMG's attendance policy. SUMMARY: Under the direction of the , responsible for telephone assessment of patients needs. Work requires the application of a variety of procedures, policies, and/or precedents relating to both the standards and procedures of the nursing profession and those established by DuPage Medical Group. Provides advice and follow-up education consistent with patient's age and cultural needs. Responds to patient inquiries, prioritizing responses and routing urgent situations to a physician, PA or NP (hereafter Provider). Maintains accurate and appropriate documentation and follows patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA and DMG policies and procedures. Performs to the level of a licensed registered nurse as dictated by the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and DuPage Medical Group. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Triage Phone Response: Manages patient health concerns and symptoms via a telephone interaction utilizing physician-approved protocols for the assessment and management of a range of symptoms. These telephone interactions require assessment, patient education and may require crisis intervention. Responds to and prioritizes incoming patient messages and test results. Schedules appointments as needed. May schedule tests and procedures and obtain insurance prior-authorization. Responsible for reviewing and authorizing/denying provider ordered prescriptions in accordance with established guidelines. Delivers patient education, according to the individualized needs of the patient and as prescribed by the Provider and/or Group policy. Educates patient and/or family members about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness. Responds to patient questions and appropriately provides reassurance while responding to patient concerns. The RN can assess the patient's medical condition and provide medical advice using DMG protocols, Provider directive or an approved Nursing Triage Manual. Patient Documentation: Maintains accurate and detailed patient records and pertinent information; posts tests and documents patient education provided. Enters all pertinent communications with the patient into the Medical Record. Clinical Resource for Staff: Performs and delegates a variety of tasks to facilitate patient care. Aware of coding and reimbursement issues. Available to other office clinical and non-clinical staff to answer questions and provide assistance as appropriate. Assists in orienting and training new staff. Seeks opportunities to improve or enhance nursing and leadership skills. Other Duties as Assigned: Utilizes current nursing practices to provide patient care while focusing on the needs of the patient and exemplifying service excellence, care, concern, respect and cooperation. As a member of a health care team, functions in the role of patient advocate by being in the position of initial contact for patient-related issues. Additional duties as assigned. Age and Cultural Specific Care: Able to adjust treatment, instruction, and education to meet the patient's age and cultural background. EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Current RN licensure in nursing. Knowledge of nursing skills in accordance with nursing standards in the Nurse Practice Act. Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA EXPERIENCE: Prefer a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting but may consider new grad under specific circumstances.
